There is a half of you, Future Baby Girl, that will yearn for the following songs…even if you never heard them before:

  • Notorious BIG’s “Hypnotize”, especially the “Biggie Biggie can’t you see?” part
  • Tupac & Dr. Dre’s “California Love”, most notably the opening line “California LooooOOoove”, where you’ll never quite learn the rest of the lyrics
  • Anything Bon Jovi, probably “Livin’ on a Prayer” with its infectious anthem
  • That Piña Colada song and it’s mega appeal to your other half
  • Anything Beach Boys, most likely that Kokomo song. Don’t ask me why, it’s not like your parents are gonna play this song for you…but I guess when you first hear it you’ll be craving for us to take you to Jamaica, and perhaps Bahama as the song resonates with you.
  • That’s a short list of songs that will just sit in your core and provide your hips with insta-rythym during your first listening due to the percentage of White in you. As a father, not only am I trying to keep you off the stripper pole- but also I am trying to have you avoid comments like “oh it’s the White in her”. You’re not White nor Indian, you are a new super race that has no cliches to attach yourself to.

So shut up when I also play some of daddy’s music for you such as a little Mumford & Sons, Chevelle, Blink 182, maybe a little Beatles since your mom loves them. Hmm now that I think about it, daddy’s music is very White. Maybe I’ll pepper in some screeching high-pitched Indian music there so you get a full array of themes. Let’s try and break any cliches girl!
